A brief history about jumpsuits

Did you know that jumpsuits have been worn for almost 100 years now? It's unbelievable, isn't it? 

But do you know exactly what they are and how they came into the fashion world? 

Well, a jumpsuit is a narrowly cut, one-piece garment that covers the arms and legs. Its origins can be found in sports and work clothing in 1919, since it first began as functional outfit for skydivers. 

Then, in the 1930s, fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli created the first highly fashionable jumpsuit, which can be considered as the prototype for the jumpsuits we know today. 

The garment made its first appearance in Vogue in September 1964, and the 1970s were the golden age of these clothes. There were styles for both the day and the evening, and almost every designer had created their own version of this garment. Celebrities like Cher or Abba adopted the jumpsuit in their style, but Elvis Presley also began wearing it. It was thus present in both female and male fashion. 

The jumpsuit is uncomplicated, you can easily pimp it up or make it sporty, which is why it can be worn for almost any occasion. Combined with high heels or with sneakers, the result is two different outfits. Some wide cuts also have an illusionary effect. They make it possible to wear trousers while providing the illusion of a dress. 

There is nothing easier than simply putting on a jumpsuit and not having to worry about which pieces fit together. From office wear through evening outfits to sporty looks, everything is possible with it. 

The only difficulty you are likely to encounter while wearing it is that you will have to take it off completely in order to be able to use the bathroom. 

With short legs it is called a romper suit, also known as a playsuit, which resembles a jumpsuit, but is a combination of shorts and shirt that originates from children's leisure wear.

Cosy yet elegant loungewear outfits

When at home, I prefer to wear more comfy clothes. Be it leggings or joggers, paired with t-shirts or sweaters, but definitely something that is still a bit elegant. 

The items below are from Femme Luxe Finery, a Manchaster-based e-tailer founded a few years ago that offers women's clothing, shoes as well as accessories at an affordable price starting at £4.99. 

Their loungewear sets are cosy yet elegant and come in a variety of designs and colours, from neutral tones to colourful ones, offering a wide range of choices. They are perfect for chilling out indoors, watching movies, running errands and even working from home. 

The Blue Off Shoulder Loungewear Set (Blake) on the picture offers a cute look and the Pink "Honey" Oversized T-shirt (Eleanor) with its loose fitting style can be combined with anything for a casual outfit. The set is available in sizes S-XL and in other colours like black, camel or pink and the t-shirt comes in sizes S-XL, besides pink also in black and white. 

The Light Pink Cuffed Joggers (Lizzie) give your outfit a colourful touch and also bring colour into your day. They are also available in camel, black, dark green, grey, white, pink, khaki, coral, light blue and lilac, just to name a few. They come in sizes 6-14, and by choosing them, you get a simple yet chic look.

The Sage Fine Knit Off The Shoulder Loungewear (Zoe) differs in material from the other pieces shown. It can be a good choice for those who prefer knitted clothing but still want to choose loungewear. It is available in different colours, from classic grey and black to neon pink and neon orange (S, M and L). 

The Khaki Long Sleeve Loungewear Set (Jinell) can be purchased in various other colours: black, camel, grey, mustard, red and slate grey (S/M and M/L). If you like this khaki colour or if you prefer another one, you can define your search for it. This means, for example, you can only search for khaki loungewear sets. 

Besides these sets, you can also find cosy lounge jumpsuits in different cuts, from wide flared to slim cut legs, on the website. They are a good choice if you want to look elegant but still want to keep that comfortable feeling. Most of them are also perfect for an online meeting. 

The Black Ribbed Off The Shoulder Loungewear Jumpsuit (Harlow) on the picture is available in sizes 6-14 and besides black also in grey. 

The off-the-shoulder tops are cuddly, yet cute and very comfortable to wear. Depending on their length, they can be worn with normal or high waisted trousers, but many look also great over a dress or with shorts or a skirt. 

The Grey Ribbed Cropped Off The Shoulder Top (Amari) is also available in the colours sand and black and in UK sizes 6-14. The website recommends combining the top with a pair of high waisted leggings and a high ponytail for the ultimate look. 

Overall, I have had a positive experience with this online shop. The items are true to size and the shipping within Europe is really fast. Normally I wear UK size 6, so I chose the same size except for the loungewear set with S/M and everything fits. 

If you are planning to buy something from them, but the item is not currently available in the size or colour you wish, I suggest you to wait a few days and check back again, as I have noticed that the stock changes daily. Something that was in today might be out tomorrow and vice versa. They even offer the possibility to get notified if the item in question is not in stock but will be available again soon. 

The only downside I've experienced is that they haven't had that many smaller sizes or that these products were often unavailable, but as I mentioned earlier, it's worth visiting the website on several days, as the stock changes from day to day.
